Programmable AC Power Sources
Pacific Power Source's programmable AC power sources deliver clean, stable output for testing products that operate from mains power worldwide. The LMX, LSX, and ADF series cover single-phase and three-phase configurations from 1 kVA to over 400 kVA, with programmable voltage, frequency, and waveform control.
These AC sources are widely used for aerospace avionics testing (simulating 400 Hz aircraft power), defence equipment qualification, and production-line voltage tolerance testing. The ADF series offers high power density in a compact form factor, while the LMX provides ultra-low-distortion linear output for sensitive measurement applications.
All Pacific Power Source AC power sources are available from Caltest with UKAS-accredited calibration and full UK technical support.
Regenerative Grid Simulators
The RGS and GSZ series are regenerative grid simulators designed for renewable energy and electric vehicle inverter testing. Unlike traditional grid simulators that dissipate energy as heat, these units feed power back into the mains — reducing energy costs by up to 95% during high-power test cycles.
Grid simulators from Pacific Power Source support hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) testing, anti-islanding verification, low-voltage ride-through (LVRT), and grid code compliance testing. The GSZ series extends this with full four-quadrant AC and DC operation, making it suitable for EV on-board charger and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) testing.
Power ranges scale from 30 kVA to over 1.1 MW through parallel configurations.
AC & DC Frequency Converters
For applications requiring conversion between 50 Hz and 60 Hz mains frequencies — or any frequency from 16 Hz to 1,200 Hz — Pacific Power Source's AFX and ADF series serve as programmable frequency converters. This is essential for manufacturers exporting products internationally who need to verify operation on different regional power grids.
The AFX series combines AC and DC output in a single unit, supporting both frequency conversion and DC power supply applications without needing separate equipment.
Electronic Loads
The ELZ and RLS series provide regenerative electronic load capability for testing power supplies, inverters, UPS systems, and battery packs. Rather than converting electrical energy to waste heat, these loads return energy to the grid — dramatically reducing cooling requirements and operating costs in high-power test environments.
The RLS series handles AC and DC loads up to 1.1 MW, while the ELZ offers compact AC/DC load simulation with built-in regeneration.
